Though Ploops has more or less displaced all my 4track activity, i include it as a category because of all that came before Ploops, and all that is still possible. One still can't get the same analog distortion, organic pitch control (or lack thereof) or delectable tape hiss in the digital environment, so I keep the thing around. It's also a pretty good mixer.
I first got this 4track back in 1995 while playing as guitar sideman in JONES, as payment for some sessions. I was elated at not having to rent or borrow one anymore, and I've gotten a ton of use out of it over the years. Whether recording rough drafts of Adults or Viper Horse songs or just goofin' around with some friends, it's gathered very little dust for as long as I've owned it. |
