JANUARY 2002 The Staring Contest Party is an idea David Avery, Chris Deaner and I had. David insisted we needed a more compelling reason (than beer and food) for people to show up to Chris' place for my birthday celebration, so the three of us came up with the idea to turn our daily subway staring contests into an event in which everyone could share and, more importantly, judge each other.
